On International Women’s Day, March 8th, 2022, a group of women gathered for a simple empowerment luncheon hosted by our founder. They came as farmers, wives, and mothers—women who had worked the land for years, yet rarely seen their work recognized or their voices heard.

By the end of that lunch, something had shifted. They looked around the table and realized they weren’t alone. That day, they didn’t just share food, they planted an idea.

From that seed came the Women Farmers Collaborative —a self-led group determined to collaboratively empower their voices and create a safe space to grow to their best potential in a field where gender inequality thrived. They understood the rhythm of survival, but this time, they wouldn’t just endure; they would rise to learn, create, and lead through skills like catering, fashion designing, etc.

Under the umbrella of Seeds of Life – Agribusiness, that idea grew into the Women’s Farm Collaborative, and in 2024, it became the center-stage name: The Agribusiness Women Collective. A new name—but the same spirit. Today, 40 women farmers form its core: women who have planted okra, corn, pepper, and groundnut, not just for their families but for the strength of their communities.

And through it all, something beautiful has happened. These women now speak of their own projects. Their own land. Their own power. They’ve created a space that doesn’t wait for permission and doesn’t forget anyone—a space where every woman is seen, supported, and served.

This is their story. One woman at a time, One voice at a time.
