Board Member

Yeabu has over 10 years’ experience as a Development and Fundraising Professional.  She began her fundraising career at Peace Action as a Productions Manager and Development Associate. Peace Action is the largest grassroots peace organization in the United States. While there, she helped raise substantial revenue for the organization over the span of six years.

As a Sierra – Leonean American from Washington DC, she always felt an obligation to contribute to her local community and her parents’ homeland of Sierra Leone in meaningful ways.  So, while continuing to work as a Fundraising and Development Professional in the Washington DC area, she volunteered as a grant writer and mentor in Washington DC. In 2009, she became a founding member of  Me Against Poverty – a nonprofit whose mission is focused on alleviating poverty through education in Sierra Leone.

She joined Impact Sierra Leone in its first year of operation (2019) and since then, she has played an integral part in raising funds, building awareness and improving internal operations. She is currently a Fundraising and Development Specialist Freelancer, working primarily with start-up nonprofit organizations, where she provides grant writing and nonprofit compliance services.  Yeabu has a B.A. in Political Science from Morgan State University in MD and has completed several courses on strategic fundraising and grant writing.
