Impact Sierra Leone End of Year Backpacks of Hope Campaign

In partnership with AmazonSmile, Impact Sierra Leone held its second annual school supply drive for the Foindu Village community in Sierra Leone from September 10th-October 18th. Foindu Village is our partner community and the focus of our Seeds of Life program. At Impact Sierra Leone, we are led by our passion for service and love for culture. The Seeds of Life initiative is a program dedicated to promoting wellness and reducing poverty through education, empowerment, and enrichment activities.  This program promotes sustainable development by:

-Supporting farmers with tools, food and other resources

-Supporting the educational and nutritional needs of the children in Foindu Village along with their families

-Addressing food insecurity through partnerships and providing monthly access to nutritious food

Thanks to an outpouring of support, we collected enough pens, pencils, notebooks, bookbags, pocket folders, rulers, hygiene products and other supplies for 250 students attending Ansarul Primary School in Foindu Village and 25 orphans from the Defend Them Young Orphanage Home.  These supplies will go a long way in making sure that students are equipped for the upcoming school year.  It will also relieve parents of the burden of having to pay for school supplies as most of the population live below the poverty line.  Our efforts are achieving #SDG1 (No Poverty), #SDG2 (Zero Hunger) #SDG3 (Good Health & Well Being) and #SDG4 (Quality Education).

The school supplies have been shipped to Sierra Leone and are scheduled to arrive in mid-December.  Dr. Adama Kalokoh, founder and executive director of Impact Sierra Leone will travel to Foindu Village, Sierra Leone at the end of December to facilitate the distribution, making sure that each child receives a book bag filled with school supplies.  She will also acknowledge the hard work of the students and Impact Sierra Leone staff in the field.

None of this would be possible without your support.  On behalf of the staff at Impact Sierra Leone, we thank and invite you to continue with us on this journey as we improve the livelihood of communities not just in Sierra Leone, but in other parts of Africa and beyond.
